Rally Cars For Sale

23 October 2012 By Danny

In the UK, many people enjoy all kinds of motor sport and rallying is one of them very popular motor sports.

Getting into rallying is very easy to do and one of the main aspects of getting into rallying is finding that perfect rally car. Before we get into a looking for rally cars for sale. There are probably a few questions that you need to ask before you start trawling the internet for rally cars for sale.

So you want to be a rally driver you want to be like the late, great Colin McRae it will take time and dedication and a fair amount of money. Having said that, rally driving is one of the cheapest sports to get involved with and also extremely exciting.

One thing I would recommend that when you consider getting into rally driving and that his to have some car handling experience. I’m not talking about just driving cars generally on the road, but I would actually suggest that at the very least you’re getting some track days under your hat even if it is at your local go-kart track as this will benefit you immensely. I would also suggest that you start with a slower car at first, and after that when you can drive a slow car fast and when you learn to carry speed through all the corners, you can take the next step up to a faster more powerful car. This will make you a considerably better rally driver, and I have seen it before when some chap has spent £30K on a brand-new rally car and thinks that they can drive and writes the car off on the first stage of his rally driving career. As I said before getting into rally driving it takes complete dedication and time, but if you do it right, then you will be successful.

One of the biggest questions I get asked about rally driving is whether you should start in an all wheel drive (AWD), front wheel drive (FWD) or rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicle. A lot of people think that having an all wheel drive turbo car will make it competitive. However, this is not the case and depending on your driving style and your experience I would always suggest starting out in a two wheel drive car. A lot of people started rally driving in front wheel drive low powered cars. Once again, learn to drive a slow car fast and smooth, and this will make you a very competitive rally driver.

When looking at rally cars for sale I should point out that buying a turbo all wheel drive vehicle will go through brakes and tyres like they are going out of fashion, and this will add to your expense, and so I would always recommend a two wheel drive vehicle over a four-wheel-drive. Furthermore, something else to consider is that when a turbo blows up, it can lead to destroying a perfectly good engine and also the turbo is extremely costly to just replace and that does not even include the labour charges if you can’t do it yourself.

I hope you’ve found this article to be of some use and as a guideline when you’re looking for rally cars for sale.
